Biomedical Informatics Centre (BIC) was established at the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH), which is a premier research institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 2006.

The center was created with an objective to initiate and promote computational research in the realm of reproductive health. The centre is currently engaged in construction of clinical databases, study of antimicrobial peptides and research activities directed towards understanding the structure-function relationships of certain protein molecules involved in human reproductive health. The center works in close collaboration with various scientists to provide computational support to experimental data.

As part of education and outreach activities, the center regularly conducts workshops and training programs in bioinformatics.  The center provides guidance to postgraduate students for their research projects and offers Ph.D programme through its affiliation with University of Mumbai.
