CAMPR4 (Collection of Anti-Microbial Peptides) has been created to expand and accelerate antimicrobial peptide (AMP) based studies by providing curated information on natural and synthetic AMPs. Recent years have seen an exponential rise in the discovery and design of natural and synthetic AMPs. Synthetic AMPs differ from the natural ones in their physical and chemical properties and needs dedicated algorithm for prediction and rational design of novel AMPs.
CAMPR4 contains information on the AMP sequence, protein definition, accession numbers, activity, source organism, target organisms, protein family descriptions, N and C terminal modifications and links to databases like UniProt, PubMed and other antimicrobial peptide databases are provided for the benefit of users. Synthetic AMPs being dissimilar from natural AMPs owing to their modified amino acid composition, dedicated prediction algorithms for predicting natural and synthetic AMPs are provided. Additionally, the database also provides tools for sequence alignment, pattern creation, pattern and HMM-based search.
Comprehensive documentation of the database can be obtained from the Help page.
